Well written July 31, 1998 Patrick Birch I have already picked through Ken Hough's other book (VB Developer) so I was excited about this one. I haven't been disappointed. I installed SQL Server and have been working through the chapters. END
The most helpful MS SQL book so far. July 29, 1998 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am always searching for SQL books that offer me quick reference and assist me in teaching others SQL. I became very excited when I first did my quick scan of this book. I have several items that I always look for when reviewing SQL books. This book had them all (in great detail). I am recommending this to all my young Visual Basic/SQL developers (and experienced developers) for reference.
Will help you pass March 16, 1999 I found this book adequate. I had very little SQL Server experience, but with the help of this book, I aced the test (I missed only one question). Of course, you have to supplement this book with the Transcender test and/or SQL server books online to do really well. Caveat: There are a significant number of errors (typos, incorrect answers) in the book, but they should be obvious.
Good Book, some errors w/ software and text July 30, 1998 I just bought this book yesterday and it seems pretty good but in the first chapter q. num. 7 the answer the book supplies on pp. 598-599 is incorrect. The software that came with the book will not install either. I just contacted sybex and I still have not heard from them. The rest of the book seems pretty good. I think that if you use this book along with Transcender's test questions you shouldn't have a problem passing the test. This book is just like any other study guide I've bought previously, it has some errors. The official curriculum has some text errors also, so if you purchase a study you can certainly expect some errors, it's a reality unfortunately.
Fair shot August 23, 1998 I find questions from the book easier than from real test, but book covers almost all areas I was questioned in in 560 pages and let me have a 'fair shot' without using other resources.
