Product Description Information Systems for Managers is a text for managerial/MBA students intended to actively engage them in discussions and activities around information systems and information technology. Piccoli has interwoven many real-world examples into the text that show students how IS will effect their futures in management positions. Each chapter starts off with a mini-case to get the student's attention, build excitement, and foster interactive discussions. A plethora of unique, full-length cases are also composed within the text to hold student's attention and show them how IS and IT are of great interest to them as managers.

Time Well Spent September 8, 2008 Alexis Strong 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I must admit, I was a skeptic. I NEVER thought anything about "IT" (which I now know to be "IS"...) would be interesting to me, but this book proved me wrong. Simply put, it is well-written with clear examples of the theories and frameworks it introduces as well as great business cases that can be used for discussion. More than just providing a clear lesson in IS, this book was engaging and enjoyable to read.
In the end, I feel better educated about a subject that will no doubt be vital to successful managers in the future. Studying this subject and reading this book was definitely time well spent.
Book Review March 24, 2008 Artin Nazarian 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was very helpful although I did not purchase it on Amazon, the points are made well clear and opens your mind to Information Systems, If your not interested in Information Systems then this book isnt for you but if you have an open mind and are looking to expand your way of thought, this book is a must read.
Great Information Systems book! July 7, 2008 Frank Mcnally (United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this book for my Strategic Information Systems course - and was glad to use have it as the course textbook! The book provides many (simple) examples, and is great for non-IT students as well. After using this book, I became more interested in reading Strategy materials (such as the HBR magazine). I would recommend this book to be used for IT and Information Systems courses.
The mini-cases in each chapter are also great gateways for class discussion! I learned a lot after reading the chapter and discussing the cases.
Smart, insightful and engaging IS text July 7, 2008 Dr. Erica L. Wagner 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a professor at an Ivy League university who used this book in her undergraduate required IS course. After years of struggling to find an effective textbook for non-IS majors, I have finally succeeded thanks to Prof Piccoli's insightful and engaging text. I recommend this book for undergraduate and graduate courses. The mini-cases and conversational style of the text makes it easy for students to understand the value of information systems in business.
Excellent text, written by an accomplished author June 15, 2008 William T. Scott (Las Vegas, NV) This book is exactly what the title represents...Information Systems for Managers. The text is not only easy to read, but it is also written in such a way that engages future functional and general managers. After having read the book cover to cover over the course of my 15-week IT course at the Cornell Hotel School (taught by the author, Gabe Piccoli)I feel extremely comfortable and confident in my knowledge of information systems and how they can add value to an organization. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is thinking about a career in business management.
