Product Description The Baltzan and Phillips approach in Business Driven Information Systems discusses various business initiatives first and how technology supports those initiatives second. The premise for this unique approach is that business initiatives drive technology choices in a corporation. Therefore, every discussion addresses the business needs first and addresses the technology that supports those needs second. This approach takes the difficult and often intangible MIS concepts, brings them down to the student’s level, and applies them using a hands-on approach to reinforce the concepts. BDIS provides the foundation that will enable students to achieve excellence in business, whether they major in operations management, manufacturing, sales, marketing, etc. BDIS is designed to give students the ability to understand how information technology can be a point of strength in an organization.

I'm in final year of an MBA program and am taking a basic MIS class, of which this book is the required text. The book arrived promptly and was in very good condition, with no page markings or defects. The Premium Content Card was perfectly intact and I've already used the code to access the appendices.
Thanks!!!
A boring read March 23, 2010 Luke Charles Martin (Sparta, MI) I needed this book for a business technology course i took. I found the book to be boring and only searched for the answers to the assigned questions in the text. The bolded words were mostly all of what i had time to read but they sufficed enough for me to pass the course.
The book does provide some good information on different technology here and there that otherwise i wouldn't have known about.
Almost Worthless April 20, 2009 Jacquelyn M. Nordahl (Burnsville, MN USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book for a class that I found almost as worthless as I found the book to be (MIS 310). I gave it two stars because, after a painfully dull semester, I still can't tell if the book was so horrible because my teacher was so incompetent or because of the writing. Although, my teacher was one of the writers....so I'm sure it was a bit of both. If you are someone who likes to use the glossary or the index to find specific subjects you will be extremely disappointed. It's a shame that this book is a requirement for any class.
lost 11 dollars September 4, 2010 r Make sure which edition you will receive. In the picture it is clear says Second Edition. They send me first edition. I send back I got my money back but 7 dollars shipping cost they cutted and also i paid 4 dollars to send back. I got nothing but lost 11 dolars.
The book is not good. January 26, 2010 Li Ping (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The writing is bad. It explains the easy thing in a complex way. I do not recommend this book. But it is required by my teacher. I have to buy it.
